- Function:Â It's primarily used to protect bowstrings from wear and tear caused by friction, moisture, and the elements. This protection helps prevent fraying and extends the life of the bowstring.
- Properties:Â Sanlida Jandao string wax is formulated to be odorless and waterproof. The waterproof quality is particularly beneficial for archers who use their bows in outdoor conditions where moisture can degrade bowstring material.
- Application:Â To apply the wax, you typically rub the stick directly along the length of the bowstring. Some waxes come in a stick form, similar to a lipstick, which can be twisted from the base for application. It's crucial to thoroughly work the wax into the individual strands of the string by massaging it with your fingers. Using a piece of fabric cord or leather, rubbed along the string, can further help distribute the wax evenly and remove excess.

The industry standard for over 70 years, Tex-Tite® is a natural-based wax. It is waterproof and can be used on natural and synthetic bowstrings. Tex-Tite is available in the standard tube applicator or in Bohning's unique box applicator made from 100% recycled plastic. Contains 28 grams of Tex-Tite. Certified Crossbow Compatible.
Bohning Tex-Tite® natural-based bowstring wax for compounds, recurves and longbows prolongs the life of bowstring and helps prevent fraying and string dry-out.
Designed and recommended for synthetic fibre bowstrings and cables, Tex-Tite® resists penetration by water and keeps moisture out of the bowstring, protecting critical string fibres.
Regular use of Tex-Tite® greatly reduces string friction and abrasion against cables, slides, wheels and cams. It penetrates into string fibres without damaging the string, and remains tacky enough under all weather conditions to hold strands together, yet not sticky and will not freeze or become brittle. 1 oz. tube of natural-based wax.
To wax your string, first remove any contaminants such as dust, dirt and old wax from your bowstring.
Clean off any dirt and grime buildup on your string with a clean, soft cloth. Waxing strings without first cleaning them can drive dirt deeper into the string, causing premature wear and unwanted friction within the string.
Then apply the wax stick up and down on all areas of the bowstring and cable, including areas of the string that are served which helps to keep the bowstring from moving inside the serving and minimises wear.
With your index finger and thumb, vigorously work the wax into the string and cable, going from one end to the other.
Remove any excess or residual wax with a cloth.
Synthetic bowstrings and cables eventually fray from constant contact with each other or brushing against branches, long grass or other abrasive surfaces.
To minimise fraying, it is highly recommended to regularly lubricate the string and cables with a liberal coat of string wax.
